My Role

UX Designer, UX Researcher

My Team

2 UX Designers, 2 UX Researchers

Deliverables

  • Conducted 10 user interviews and affinity mapping to validate needs, establishing a four-section architecture for the NFT platform.

  • Created a unified feed system displaying diverse NFT types (images, audio, text) in a visually harmonious layout optimized for engagement.

  • Developed unique presentation methods for different NFT types, featuring rotating 3D displays, vinyl-inspired audio formats, and gallery-style frames.

Prototype Overview

NFT Display

Based on the user's hobbies, the algorithm will recommend posts from other users on the feed page that the user may be interested in. After the user clicks into one of the NFT-related posts, he or she will see the price and owner description of the NFT. If the user wants to know more about the NFT, such as properties, he can click to view the rarity of each property.

See posts from heated topic & Follow other users

Users can see the most trending topics on the discover page. After clicking on the title of the relevant topic, the user can see related posts. After the user clicks to enter the post page of interest, if the user wants to follow the publisher of this post, he can go to his homepage to follow him.

Display your NFTs

In order to allow users to be more engaged in our application, we set a button in the navigation bar. Users can post their thoughts or show off the nfts they own.

Find a community you are interested in

Since activating the community is our purpose, the events of the topic are designed as cards with event time on them.  Based on the information architecture, Users can obtain Web3.0 identification by sharing or communicating in the community area. To achieve it, we designed the ranking of users and ranking  of topics. Only when users reached a certain level, can they have access to some topics. In this way, the motivation of users is gained.

What you can expect

  1. Creative Visual Elements
Innovative NFT displays featuring rotating 3D platforms, nylon-colored vinyl records for audio, and gallery-style frames - each designed to enhance the digital collecting experience.

  1. Strategic Industry Learning
My rapid journey from NFT novice to informed designer through stakeholder guidance, hands-on platform exploration, and targeted user interviews with NFT experts.

Chapter 1.

The Genesis of Innovation

Summer 2022 - When opportunity meets uncertainty

“Another NFT platform?” - My colleague's skepticism echoed in the room...

“Another NFT platform?” - My colleague's skepticism echoed in the room...

“Another NFT platform?” - My colleague's skepticism echoed in the room...

In a market already saturated with trading platforms like OpenSea and Foundation, were we just adding to the noise?

Yet, beneath the surface of Discord channels buzzing with transaction talks, a different story was unfolding - one of unfulfilled human connection.

“ I saw beyond the transactions - I saw a community waiting to be built.”

Chapter 4.

Voices of the Community The Research Phase

Armed with newfound understanding, my colleague and I embarked on a qualitative research mission, speaking with ten seasoned NFT enthusiasts.

1.What kind of features or functions do you think are essential to disaply your collections and socialize with other owners.

2.What kind of wallet do you use? Why?

3.What do you feel about having an app that can display your NFT and socialize with other owners?

4.Do you want to show your true identity or know others’ true identity?

5.Do you have the need of classfying you NFTs? Do you think view, like, comment place is essential while displaying?

6.In what way do you think this app can help you(sell your NFTs /gain more identity of Web3.0 /social resource)

Through careful affinity mapping, patterns emerged like constellations in the night sky, revealing eight key user needs that would become our guiding stars.

Chapter 5.

Crafting the Experience The Design Evolution

How do you translate digital ownership into visual poetry? This question drove our design decisions as we structured the mobile application's architecture into four distinct pillars. My canvas became the profile, search, community and feed sections - each requiring its own careful consideration.

Design challenge 1.

Designing the Feed - A Visual Symphony

The Art of First Impressions

Have you ever wondered how to present a digital art gallery where every piece art work has its own spotlight? This was the challenge I faced when designing the feed page for 2D Moon.

Like a curator arranging an exhibition, I had to solve a fundamental puzzle:

how to display diverse NFT types in a harmonious, unified feed while preserving their unique characteristics.

Design challenge 2.

The Exhibition Space - Curating Digital Treasures

Where Traditional Art Meets Digital Innovation

Standing in front of a retail store window display one rainy afternoon, watching a rotating mannequin, I had an epiphany about how to showcase 3D NFT figurines. Why should digital collectibles be confined to static displays when they could dance?

Design insights from 2D MOON

Breaking Visual Boundaries

Our innovative display solutions - from vinyl record metaphors for audio NFTs to double-width text displays and rotating 3D platforms - solved fundamental visualization challenges while creating visual rhythm in the feed. These weren't just aesthetic choices but functional solutions that enhanced how users interact with different NFT types.

Creating Digital Ownership Value

By treating digital assets with the reverence of traditional art while embracing new technological possibilities, we elevated the ownership experience. Our sophisticated rarity visualization system and exhibition-like displays transformed how collectors perceive and value their digital assets, setting new standards in the NFT space.

User-Centered Problem Solving

My personal struggles with NFT interfaces directly informed our approach. Our research with enthusiasts revealed the importance of prioritizing community over commerce, leading to key layout decisions like moving commercial elements to the feed and showcasing community activity first.
